We are starting the post-production on an HD feature in the next month. The feature was shot on two F900 Hdcams(23.98 ) in LA. This feature will probably be printed to film for theatrical release.
The Hdcam tapes were downconverted to Dvcam for the offline in FCP with “TC burn” of the 29.97 and 23.98 timecodes in the video. The editor just sent me a small section of the feature exported as an EDL thru “cinema tools” in order to remove the pulldown. I have worked with edls for many years but not in Premiere and the format of the edl looks correct when viewed in notepad.
The tc numbers in the edl match the 23.98 tc display on the video perfectly however when I import the edl into a PPro/Axio/HD/23.98 project the numbers are changed so I cannot capture correctly. I have captured a few clips from the hdcam tapes using the numbers from the edl and this works just fine. I haven’t tried yet but I think I could change the tc numbers for each clip in the bin before capture but this would take a long time for a 105 minute feature.
Has anyone had any experience with this process? Is this an Axio or PPro problem? Is there a workaround? Has this been suggested as a possible fix in PPro2/Axio2?
