  Editing with Subclips in HD offline workflow???

  Building a workflow for an HDCAM feature to be offlined with ProRes422 for the edit and then onlined at full res.

  We have 30 tapes of footage that will have to be captured all at once (vs. logging and capturing individual clips) due to deck rental costs. Planning to subclip each take and then sync sound (sound recorded separately).

  My question is whether I’ll need to export the subclips as Quicktime Movies (no conversion) and then reimport and sync sound, or whether I can just sync sound and start editing the the subclips and expect everything to hold together?

  My gut says I’ll need to export first, but wondering what experience people have had editing with subclips before ordering that extra 2tb of storage space I’ll need.
