We have an upcoming job for SDE (Same day edit). We have HP ZD8000 laptop. Our fire wire on the motherboard is busted. So we are using a fire wire and USB card PCMCIA Card.

We planning to buy an external drive for media. Should we look at something like the g-raid 2 external drive?

Its two cameras shoot and the client also buying the raw DV tape at the end. Our source to digitize the footage is Panasonic’s DVX100. Can we daisy chain the camera with the external drive and successfully capture?

Any sugessation? Use firewire from camera and USB for external hard drive?

    TIA

One thing you may want to look at is using Adobe OnLocation to capture the footage directly into the laptop. That way you’ll save all that digitization time.
