my skype recorder is set at 640×480, max frame rate, h.264, uncompressed audio. I can’t find/alter a sequence setting in FCP to allow me to drop the files in the timeline unrendered. What’s weird is that when i look at the item properties for an imported clip it says frame rate 10fps. But when recording the clips and playing them back they do not look like 10fps.

    Any ideas for sequence settings?

    Hi Michael,
Open the clip with QT or MPGSTreamclip to see the properties of the clip.
I don’t use Skype, but I guess this kind of application reduces the number of fps to use less bandwidth.
FC won’t be happy with a 10fps time base footage. Is not a video like time-base. FC won’t never conform a sequence to that time base.
Neither the codec (H264) will make happy FC.
If you want to edit that footage you should think of transcoding it and convert it to a workable frame rate.
    Best,
    Rafael
