    Hello Creative Cow friends,

In a couple weeks I will be starting a big project where I will be traveling around the state on a tour bus creating webisodes on the fly. I work at an editorial where I have my 8-core processor Mac Pro but I haven’t had much experience editing on location. I’m wondering if anyone has any tips for editing on the go. I will be bringing along a Mac Pro labtop suited up with my programs, an external drive, and a DV-Cam deck. Any suggestions to avoid head aches along the way?

    Thanks in advance!

Build a platform to lock stuff down. (if you are traveling and working) Nothing more annoying than hard drives moving all over the place, or hitting you in the head on a quick stop. I did a job recently where I was importing media from decks and camera’s while we traveled from state to state with a band. Bungy cords, power supplys, and alot of AC make the trips bearable and fun. Nothing like a mobile office. Enjoy it!

A mouse can be tricky as your hand shifts the cursor unexpectedly with vehicle to and fro and bumps, or you find yourself gripping your tablet pen too hard. A nice big trackball may be more accurate and easy on the hand if your work surface is in motion.

Also, foam or cushion along the table/desk edge and a lumbar pillow help.
