Editing Off Sony XDCAM Disc in Final Cut Pro Without Importing
Is there a way to edit XDCAM footage directly off of the disc, without having to import the files or convert them?
Basically, I have a bunch of XDCAM footage that I need to turn into a small low-res quicktime movie. I know how to do this in Avid; as soon as I insert the disc into the disc reader, Avid creates a new bin and shows all of the video files there, and I can just drag the files directly into the timeline.
If anyone knows of any non-Final Cut methods of quickly turning XDCAM footage into a quicktime movie, that also would be helpful (I need to put a timecode on the footage, as well).
