Editing in FCP7 with Footage from the Canon E300
We’ve started using a Canon C300 recently to film weddings and are having some trouble getting the clips to import in their entirety to Final Cut Pro 7 which we use here at our office. We import the MXF files using MPEG streamclip but the longer ones only import the first 30 seconds of the clip and then cut out the rest of the footage. Any suggestions as to how to import these clips in their entirety for Final Cut Pro 7 would be appreciated.
Also, the clips play fine in the preview window but stutter when we drag them to the sequence and play them. tx

Download the LOG AND TRANSFER plugin for the C300, here:
(click on DRIVERS & SOFTWARE, choose MacOS Lion, and then download “Canon XF Plugin for Final Cut Pro 1.3.1.’)
Install that, restart the computer. Then use the Log and Transfer workflow:

Convert the footage to ProRes 422.

What codec did you convert them to with MPEG STREAMCLIP?

What Shane suggests is certainly the way to go. If I could add just one small point if you have not used Log and Transfer before.
While it is transcoding don’t do anything else on FCP, in fact I tend to leave the computer well alone and go have a cup of tea or something as otherwise your clips will likely be truncated. Apologies if you are an old hand at Log and Transfer and knew this, if not its a bit of a gotcha.best wishes
