I’d like to hear people’s ideas on the preferable file to work with on the timeline when editing HDV in Vegas Pro 8. (I’m looking at direct transfer to hard drive from CF card – no tape capture.)

.m2t – direct import from hard drive

    .avi (after Cineform conversion)

.mxf (1920×1080 after render from .m2t on time line)

I work directly with the .m2t files unless I have to export to another application like Boris RED for motion tracking. Then I will render to CineForm because it can withstand multiple renders. I see no advantage in making an MXF file if your camera doesn’t produce them natively.
