I just began a project using HDV (for the first time) and am finding that after I capture it using the HDV preset, I have to render it before I can view it on the timeline.

The project I’m working on is such that I need to sync audio and video from two different sources, back and forth throughout the program. Everytime I move a clip even 5 frames to get it to sync, I have to re-render the clips, which takes 5+ min. depending on their length. It’s killing me the amount of time it’s taking.

Is there anyway to capture the HDV without this problem? I’ve read a few posts about transcoding the HDV and conforming it… can someone explain this to me?

    Will upgrading to 5.1 help?

Since the final video will be put on SD DVD, does it make sense to have the camera down convert it upon capture and edit it as DV? (I believe the sony camera it was shot on can do this.)

Thanks for any help you can provide!

Sounds like the clip settings don’t match the sequence settings. Check the item properties for both and make sure they match in every respect.

    All the best,

    Tom
