Editing HD in Final cut pro, but video does not look good.
Hello.
I am newbie to Final cut and I have HD clips that were taken from Sony PMW-EX3.
The Video seems ok when I plug the camera in to HDTV directly using video out put.
However when I see the video in Final Cut Pro or the Clip browser, then
the video does not look natural. Like if a person is moving in the clip, then the video plays like slow motion video. (not that noticeable but it really bothers me.)
Is this because my computer is slow?
My friend asked me to buy AJA’s KONA3 but.. I am not sure if that is the problem.
Can someone help me please?

Possibly, but no one will know for sure until you tell us what kind of Apple Computer you have and how old it is.
Processor type and how many.
Amount of RAM.
Editing with a separate media drive or is media on startup drive.
Connection type with any separate media drive(s).I’m sure you get the idea. Post back when you have all this information.

The clips where shat at what frame size/rate?
The sequence setting is what?
The computer is what?EX codec plays back even on my 2 year old Mac Mini just fine though.

I am using Mac Pro with two quad core 3.2 and 8 GB memory.
I think my sequence setting was wrong. It was set to HDV.

One more question, I have two 30inch apple cinema display, but if I have HD-SDI monitor with AJA, will I have better HD quality than what I have on my cinema display now?

With the release of Final Cut Pro 6 you can create any sequence you want. When you drag your first video clip to the “Overwrite” dialogue in the Canvas window, if the sequence settings don’t match your clip settings a dialogue box will come up. You will be asked if you want to change the sequence settings to match the clip settings. Choose “yes”. After that your sequence will retain all the attributes of your fist clip. No more problems with trying to create a sequence manually to match your video clips.
Not that I’ve ever tried monitoring video via a Kona HD-SDI output I wouldn’t think there would be any quality difference between that and an Apple 23″ or 30″ HD Cinema HD display. If you have a broadcast monitor for colour correction/monitoring then that’s one of the purposes of having a SDI connection from the Kona board. Any picture quality differences would be because of what you’re watching it on and wouldn’t have anything to do with the actual difference in video processing.
