Editing AVCHD in Premiere Pro CS4 – is my computer powerful enough?
I am thinking of buying the Canon Vixia HF200 camcorder and I see that it compresses the video in the AVCHD format. I also read from various places that it can be difficult to edit in this format because of how compressed the files are unless you have a good computer.
So my question is do you think my computer is good enough to handle editing these files with ease?
I have the following:
Windows 7 Professional
Adobe Premiere Pro CS4Intel Q6600 � Quad Core 2.4 Ghz Processor
EVGA LGA 775 Nvidia nForce 680i SLI Mobo
EVGA GeForce 8600 GTS 256MB x 2
Antec Performance One P180B Case
FSP Blue Storm II 500 ATX 2.2V 500W Power Supply
G.Skill 8GB (2x2x2x2) DDR2 800
500 GB SeaGate SATA HD
1 TB SeaGate SATA HD
Zalman 9700 (Aftermarket Heat Sync)I know some of the specs mentioned above are irrelevant but I had a list that was easy to copy / paste from.

Very difficult to say.
If you know of someone who has an AVCHD camera try and get some footage to test.

It doesn’t look like the AVCHD footage is in full 1080p though… Anyone else have any they care to share?
