I do not currently have access to audio editing software and need to do some basic editing to an AIFF file — fade in/out and just cut out the end of the audio file while in the timeline.

Is there any reason that this should not be done in FCP, but rather a dedicated audio editing program?

that can easily be done within FCP, but if you discover you need to do something more challenging with it, FCP comes with Soundtrack Pro, which is a very capable sound editing program.

Is SoundTrack Pro new to the new FCP Suite OR has it been around?

I had used Adobe Audition in the past to do basic editing of audio files. Do you know if SoundTrack Pro has the same capabilities as Audition?

    Thanks.
