Editable file for client- but only for text
Hello, I’m supposed to prepare an editable after effects file for the client, and only text layers should be editable. I’ve already locked all the other layers and hid them (shy) but of course they are reachable and editable. I don’t want to render everything except for the texts and make it a separate composition with only the rendered empty video and add texts. I have transitions that effect texts and in the long run I don’t think it’s very feasible.
Do you have any suggestions for locking the layers for good, so that even a motion designer can’t edit anything but the texts?

If you’re collaborating with Premiere Pro editors, you might look into the Essential Graphics (.mogrt) workflow: https://helpx.adobe.com/after-effects/using/creating-motion-graphics-templates.html
Unfortunately, there’s no real way to lock down a project permanently. I think about the best you can do is strongly discourage editing with locked/shy layers.

Another common practice is to organize the editable items as precomps. Keep those precomps in the root project window with names like “Edit Text 1”, “Edit Text 2”. Hide all other project assets in a folder. Name the folder “[do not edit]”
