    Hi there,

I hope one of you out there can help me..

I am trying to ‘Edit to Video’ on FCP 6.0.5, to DigiBeta via SDI on a new Blackmagic Extreme HD card. I have a MacPro OSX 10.5.7, latest drivers etc… PAL, and my sequence is Apple Pro Res 4:22.

When I play my timeline the SDI signal goes to the deck just fine (ie: I can crash record and master that way, with inaccurate timecode). However, when I use ‘Edit to Video’ to assemble edit my sequence at an exact timecode, my Mac no longer sends the SDI signal to the deck. I presume my output settings are wrong but I have tried a number of them. Am I missing something? My system controls the deck via RS422 just fine.

Please help ASAP, as I have a big job for broadcast and need to master the tape with exact timecode points, not crash record and play from my timeline.

    Kind regards,
    Regan Hall

Did you black and code the beginning of the tape. You can’t assemble edit to a completely blank tape.

Hi John, yes – tape striped and the actual edit happens fine – it’s the SDI signal that drops out. As soon as the recording begins, the deck flashes ‘no SDI input’ – must be a setting on FCP Edit to Tape output?

There arent really any settings in FCP. Its usually handled by your capture cards control panel. I am only familiar with AJA…never used Blackmagic. Try posting in the Blackmagic Decklink forum.

Make sure your reference video is connected and working correctly. This can cause weird behavior if its not.

[Regan Hall] “must be a setting on FCP Edit to Tape output? “

No. There’s nothing in FCP to set up an output. This is handled by your video card. ON the AJA Kona boards we set up the SDI / Component outputs via the AJA Control panel, FCP has nothing to do with output selection.
