I feel really stupid about this, as it has happened before and I’ve fixed it, but I don’t remember how. I have a Kona LH on a G5 PC with 4.5 gigs of RAM, running a Firmtek 2 tb RAID 0 SATA array. FCP Studio 2 latest everything.

I tried trashing prefs and whatnot but still the Edit to Tape is greyed out. Yes, I have the RS422 cable hooked up to my UVW1800 deck. And all the Kona connections are working.

    Have a wonderful day.

Are the edit to tape functions greyed out? More information would help. Are you running blackburst to the deck, and if not, are you looping your composite signal through the Ref in the on the deck.

Last time I had a similar problem, I reselected my user set-up — I was working HD to Letterbox 4:3 downconvert via Kona — created a new sequence, copy/pasted the edit into the new sequence, and then the edit to tape function started working. All my set-ups were right in the first sequence, but it seemed like it just need a refresh or kick-start. Funky for sure.

just an off the cuff thought, but check the log/capture, make sure it’s not set to non-controllable device, and check the box next to video in the ? tab (shooting from memory, i believe it’s the middle tab).

    Hi,

Another thought. Have you dragged the sequence into your source monitor? As an Avid man, this caught me out before.

Good thoughts all, will check later today. Ended up just making my dubs from the timeline, there is a 2 pop on the show so hopefully the stations will put up with this, they have in the past before I knew how to use ETT.

    So thanks.

    Have a wonderful day.

Hey chris, I got weirdness once from edit to tape with my kona
    LH as well.

delete the kona prefs file, then it should reset it.

    Hey Chris,

Yes, I think that fixed it the last time, will try.

    Have a wonderful day.

Trashing the AJA prefs did not fix the problem.

    Have a wonderful day.
