  • “Edit to Tape” – “In to Out” problems with a DSR-1500

I can’t seem to find this topic by searching, so could anyone help me with this….?

With “Edit to Tape” in FCP 6.0.4, under the “Mastering” tab you can use “Entire Media” or “In to Out”. When I use the “In to Out” setting, instead of recording that footage to our DSR-1500 (or DSR-11) it only records black. One in twenty times it does record the video clips indicated from “IN” to “OUT” but I can’t tell why it doesn’t do it the other nineteen times.

Does anyone have any idea what setting or checkbox I am missing (or changing) that would make it work 100% of the time?

check under the same tab for any leader settings….specifically the two black settings, based on the description of your problem…..anything checked in that whole area will be laid down BEFORE your media, using the same starting timecode. You must either uncheck those settings, or compensate your starting timecode, as well as the duration of each of the settings

Thanks, but all the settings there are unchecked – I use “Edit to Tape” to output full sequences all the time(with no black/countdown/etc settings in the “Mastering” tab). I’m just hoping someone can tell me why the computer won’t re-record the last third of the timeline to tape when it will output the entire timeline with no problems.

When our Final Cut IS able to record the “IN to OUT” to tape, the window that pops up while recording to tape shows the actual video being output to tape starting at the “IN” point. When it has THIS problem, that window only shows black – even though it records for the duration indicated by “IN to OUT”.
