  • Edit to Tape in HDV not working…

Posted by Neil Harris on May 2, 2006 at 3:19 pm

    Hi there!

    i’m using FCP 5.0.2 and a Sony Z1e

I’m trying to lay off a timeline back to the camera but getting a warning that Edit to Tape cannot be used in HDV mode. FCP tells me to use print to video instead. FCP then goes through the motions of this but the camera ‘freezes’ and locks after 1 frame and does not record…

anyone know about this? should i be able to lay back off to HDV in theory??

    Thanks

    Neil

Can your camera be controlled by FCP during record? Generally Edit to Tape / Print to Video are used to control a VTR. Many cameras can be controlled just fine during ingest as a player, but not as a VTR during record mode.

You may just need to hit Record on the camera and Play on your timeline.

that is correct there is no edit to tape with that setup.

update to FCP 5.04 and make sure to “completely” render out the timeline and then print to video.
Turn off all RT functions to force the full rendering.

I’ve played to tape recently (on same camera) using Edit to Tape mode on a dv project and all was fine… don’t think i can crash record off the timeline…
