Edit software to AE workflow.
Sorry everyone for this newbie question and I’m sure it’s been covered a million times. Just can’t seem to find a solid answer though..
I used to use AE ages ago back with version 6.0, then stopped and now I’m back into it. I never really got the hang of a good workflow when working with AE and editing software.
Unless I was creating a real short segment in AE and used AE to ‘cut’ a few layers of footage, I would somehow avoid it due to the fact that any type of editing in AE was just basically difficult, especially if there was audio involvement and you wanted to cut on beats etc..
AE was just not designed for editing and rightfully so, it’s not an edit application 🙂 Either that or I just didn’t know how to use it properly. 🙁
Anyways, the quesion I want to ask is, now with CS3 and CS4 around I have some questions:
1. What’s the best editing software to use if I want the tightest AE integration and also, how tight does it integrate? I’m assuming Premiere Pro?
2. What editing software are you all using and how do you workflow your import to AE?
3. Is exporting a whole timeline (Say 3-4mins long) to an uncompressed AVI and then re cutting it all in AE a long way to do things? Is this considered normal practice cause it used to be years ago with me.
I’m using Sony Vegas right now, I tried exporting as an AAF file and importing to AE, it doesn’t do it properly due to the fact that I’m workign with nested compositions inside Vegas. So exporting AAF is no good to me..
Thanks everyone for your help…
