    Hi Tom,

Thanks for offering to test the clip.
I am actually working of a thunderbolt Pegasus raid from Promise as well, but I have had no problems with it.

I put one of the troublesome clips in my dropbox, you can find it here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/jygy5cbjnd2l8es/IOPnAbz2m-

Let me know what you find, thanks!

Are you using Mountain Lion with it? I’m wonderign if it’s the OS in my case. Here’s the report from them..

    Hi Brian,

Thank you for attaching subsystem report. I have verified the subsystem report, Found that PD1 marked as dead due to multiple bad sectors and Need to replace the PD1.

Pitty is I bought it only a week ago. Followed the set up instructions to a T. They created an RMA but won’t ship me the new drive until they receive the old one. So I just decided to return it to B&H and I puchased an OWC 12TB RAID for $800 cheaper. I was just hoping on the thunderbolt accessibility. This OWC drive has eSata, FW800 and USB 3.0 . I’ll probably go with USB 3.0 . I’ve also had issues in the past where a Lacie thunderbolt to eSata hub was quirky. So I’m not sure the thunderbolt technilogy is where it needs to be yet. Seems like quite a few others are having similar issues that I’m finding in reviews and forums.

Danielle. I loaded your clip in to PrP and had the sequence built based on the clip. I got the same seq settings as you did. There is an audio track but there is no audio on it so you dont need to have it on the timeline.

The clip plays great on my system. I would say there is nothing wrong with the clip and something wrong with your system.

I dont believe you told me what raid system you are playing your media back from.

I am playing back from a Dulce raid that can has a read/write speed of about 1000MB/sec.

    https://www.dulcesystems.com/html/pro_dqg2.html

I also have a GTX 570 CUDA card as well as 64GB of ram.Your ram is really quite small for an edit system and Im not familiar with the graphics card. PrP elies on the Mercury Playback engine and the engine needs a certain level of component in order to playback HD video.

I am running CS6 current version. my system stats can be seen below. I would guess that the bottleneck is the hard disk your clips are playing back from. Please tell me what it is.

Hi Tom, thanks so much for your help!

I am using a thunderbolt raid. Pegasus by Promise. 6TB.
So that shouldn’t be the problem?

When I double click that clip and let it play in the source monitor, it plays fine perhaps the first 1 or 2 times, but after I try to play these sets of clips for about a minute it starts to freeze. Same if I play it from the timeline.
Did you try to play it in the source monitor for a couple of minutes?

Im also on latest CS6, you got the comp specs and now the raid as well.

What do you think it is?

I need to tell the videographer something, he is delivering me more footage from a shoot they are doing next month.

The clip is fine. It plays smoothly in both source and Program monitor.
The issues I think are with your system.

    OK try the following steps.

    1. Delete your Preferences for PrP. Google for details
    2. Repair your Macs permissions. I ue Onyx.
    3. Delete all you media cache files
    4. Delete any rendered Preview files.

If this doesnt help you make want to download and run this AJA system test which will tell you how your raid is performing.

Let me know how things work after this maintenance procedure.

    How full is your raid?

Well if you have done all those steps the only other thing I can think of is a complete uninstall and reinstall of CS6. Use the Adobe CS6 Cleaner to make sure all is removed.
