Edit an Exisiting Avid Title?
Posted by Alex Udell on March 14, 2006 at 5:18 pmHi Guys…
So I’ve created a title in Avid. It’s sitting in my bin. Now I want to edit the broder color.
How open the existing title in Avid title?
Thanks…

March 14, 2006 at 5:42 pmYou can’t alter the title from the bin. First you must put it in the timeline. Then with the blue line over the title clip in the timeline, go into effects mode. In the upper left hand corner there is an icon. Click on it and it will open the title in title tool. Change your border color and whatever else you want and then save it. Another tile will be created. Put that title in your bin with your other titles and rename it because it will have the same name as the original title.

March 15, 2006 at 12:44 amYou can open the title from the bin. Ctrl + Double Click on it. This should open the title in your title tool. Make your changes, Ctrl+S to save, and you’re ready to go. I know it works on Avid Media Composer Adrenaline and Avid Xpress Meridien, even Free DV I think. Should work across the board. Let us know.

March 15, 2006 at 2:20 pmMan, I’ve been editing on an Avid since ’95, and this is the first I’ve heard of this. Just goes to show you never stop learning – thanks promoboy!

March 15, 2006 at 4:13 pmDitto on that Jon, and when I was answering the question, I had the nagging feeling that when I said you couldn’t change a title from the bin, there was indeed a way that I just didn’t know about and I didn’t have time to check it out. By now, we all should know that with Avid, there’s always many ways to do things. It’s deep, man! I just discovered something the other day by accident.

March 15, 2006 at 7:11 pmI discovered opening a title from the bin by accident. I was trying to open it in a new window (alt + Double Click), and accidentally did Ctrl + Double Click. Lo and behold, the title tool opened instead of a new monitor. Both surprised and shocked, I added it to a running list of shortcuts and tips I keep by the Avid. That list has made the a faster editor than I ever thought possible. It’s all about the shortcuts. All about the shortcuts.
