Edge Softening?
I’ve created different boxes in photoshop for use in after and everytime I bring them into after effects, the edges blur. The edges are clean in photoshop, and when I preview the file in after effects, however, in the comp, they have some sort of softening on them. Is this an option to turn off in AE? I’m using version 7

Are you viewing your composition with pixel aspect ratio correction on? If your composition does not have square pixels then there will be some subtle horizontal distortion due to the preview (this will not appear on the proper display device, i.e. TV).
Otherwise, the edge of your box may be residing ‘in between’ pixels.

yep, i suspect it’s the p.a.r… there doesn’t appear to be the same issues at the top and bottom edges
try putting the same image in a square pixel comp and see if you notice the same edge issue. if it works, then you may want to create your psd images in the same pixel aspect ratio as the destination comp (later versions of photoshop allow you to work in non square pixels…).
