  • Ecoding DVD Finalcut how long?

Posted by Darin Miyashiro on October 28, 2008 at 8:38 pm

I’m not a Finalcut user, but I’m thinking of switching over to a MAC.
I’m thinking of getting a MAC PRO 2.8ghz 8core desktop.
Question I have for you finalcut users is
“How long does it take to encode a 1-hour dvd” in finalcut pro
or compressor?” Using a Mac Pro 2.8 8core desktop computer

    Thanks!

    From what format? HD, SD?

I can’t speak about HDV encoding as I have never worked with the format, but all MPEG2 encoding on an 8Core is very fast when setup properly.

You want to switch to a Mac for MPEG2 encoding…is that the only reason?

I really appreciate any info to help make my decision on switching
    to a MAC.

    no not for ecoding
Finalcut seem to be used more than premier
I saw a demo of live type and it’s really nice. I would have to use after effects to do those effects
