    Hi all,
I’m working on ae7 at the moment and it’s not treating the ECHO fx as it used to in ae6.5

I have a 3d layer along a 3d motion path, precomped with 3d switch and ECHO added and that’s all fine, but when i click collapse transformations (as per the Joe Chao’s confetti tute) ECHO doesn’t work any more. this used to be no problem in ae6.5

any one knows what’s going on? is the echo fx changed in anyway or am i missing something obvious?

i’m on a dual g5 at the moment (not intel)

    Thanks for any advice!
    best / david

No, this seems indeed to be a bug. It’s behaving the same here on my Windows AE. Never noticed it before. :-\

thanks mylenium for verifying that! i can’t believe it. it must the first time i discover a real bug that i didnt’ know of before. don’t know whether to be happy or cry. i had really planned to use this fx alot for a proj, much along the lines of your pseudo extrude tute.

do you possibly know of any work around?
or does any one perhaps have some advice on a commercial good echo plug which might not have the same bug?

    many thanks /david

I think Boris FX have their own Echo effect in Continuum. Don’t know if it solves your problem, though.

I was also trying to do a project that needed this ribbon effect in 7 on my Mac and it wasn’t working. The 7.01 update didn’t fix the problem. So I took the old Echo plugin from 6.5, copied it in, removed the new one from the folder — that fixed it and now it works! *whew*
