easy way to remove gaps in vegas 9?
Posted by Gilles Gagnon on October 28, 2009 at 11:02 amI searched high and low for a method to remove a gap (blank space between events) on a track but to no avail.
I can easily do this in FCP. How do I do it in Vegas?
Thanks

October 28, 2009 at 2:01 pmYou can just doubleclick on a gap and press delete.
There is also a free script for this, made by a certain Philip, that will remove all gaps on the selected track. This script works in Vegas 8 pro. I have never tried this script in Vegas 9, but I will include it as attachment so that you can try.

October 28, 2009 at 2:11 pmTurn on Ripple Edit (Ctrl+L) and move the event next to it to close the gap. The entire timeline will follow based on your Ripple Edit options (affected tracks, markers, etc.).
Then turn off Ripple Edit.

October 28, 2009 at 2:54 pmThanks John,
I knew about this method but I’m looking for something that can be accomplished faster, without reaching for the mouse to move the 2nd event. LIke, selecting the region in the gap (dbl click) and pressing some shortcut key like ctrl-x.

Surprised there isn’t’ something built into Vegas. Seems like elementary stuff.

October 28, 2009 at 3:18 pmGilles, double-click the blank region to highlight it and press Ctrl+Shift+F.
This is know as a Post Edit Ripple for “all Tracks, Markers and Regions”. -

October 28, 2009 at 3:34 pmActually, double-click the region as Mike said and then press Del to delete the gap (which looks like it does nothing) and THEN press Ctrl+Shift+F to post ripple. You have to press delete in order for the post ripple to work.
