We just got a brand new power mac with Sony XD-cam installed. We downloaded Sony’s transfer utility software for proxy editing and everything seems to be working fine. The only thing we’re missing is the easy set up for Avid. There are no Sony XD cam settings to choose. Does anybody know of any upgrades or how to get these codecs? Thanks alot!

you need to upgrade to version 5.1.2 or greater for full XDCAM HD codec support. otherwise you are limited to using the HDV preset and shooting in “SP” mode for compatability.
if you have already upgraded, make sure you check the “Show All” checkbox in the Easy Setup window, the scroll down all the way to the bottom and you’ll see them.

    cheers

Thanks! I actually did upgrade to FCP 5.1.4. (found on FCP web site), but I still don’t see the easy set up for xdcam. I also made sure that “show all” is checked. Does anybody else know what’s going on?

how about if you open the Audio/Video Settings window, and switch to the Sequence Presets tab … if yu scroll through the list, do you see a Sequence presets for XDCAM HD and Sony XDCAM HD ?

    Thanks Andy,

I loaded the FCP upgrade again and that made the xdcam codec appear. It must have not loaded correctly the first time! Thanks for your help!
