  • Easy scale / graph editor question!

Posted by Stephen Roberts on July 11, 2016 at 6:42 pm

    simple question! (i think)

If I separate horizontal and vertical Scale (to animate just the vertical growth of an object)

When I look in the graph editor, I see handles for both the horizontal and vertical… and I can’t grab just the vertical handles!

Show selected properties doesn’t help. Because it is showing the selected property … Scale.

    Any thoughts?

Are you possibly in the speed graph view rather than the value graph view?

    i possibly am…

But when I tried it in the value graph, it’s the same. I see both the red (horse) and green (vert) beziers.

When I try to click and drag the green one, I can’t because the red one is on top.

It sounds like everything is selected at the same time.

Apply easy ease to the keyframes. Now when you click and select either one (but only one) of the lines, bezier handles will appear. Those handles will control only the selected line.

Or simply change one or the other of the values so the keyframes aren’t on top of each other…

(Unless something else is going on and I’m not clear on your problem.)

    thanks for the response!

Ok… that helped, to change the value just to move the key frame out of the way (and then change it back)

see, the starting keyframe is horz=100 vert=0 and 20 frames later, horz=100 vert=100 … so to try and grab the vert bezier on the second keyframe, I kept grabbing the horz, when I wanted the vert. They were in the same spot.
