  • Easiest way to hide a wall in render?

Posted by Keith Goldstein on December 3, 2014 at 12:41 am

I am creating a virtual tour of a pumping station, and want to show the inside of the main building. I thought using the Polygon Selection tag on the front wall and hiding the selection, but a Maxon rep told me that the hidden wall will still show up in the render, and the hide selection option is just for working around the hidden polygons.

Can someone tell me what the easiest way would be to hide the front wall of the building in the render? And how to fade the wall out in the render (possibly keyframing)?

Best way is probably to use a Display Tag on the wall object and animate the tag’s visibility parameter. You could even use a little basic Xpresso to tie the fade to camera’s distance to the wall.
