E-Mailing Video
Does anyone out there ever e-mail their :30 and :60 commercials to clients for approval?
What is the best method to do this? I’ve been making very small quicktime movies but the file sizes are usually too large for e-mailing.
Are there any other solutions? The clients can never seem to wait for Fed-Ex.
Any suggestions would be great.

We usually FTP our trailers or promos we compress them to about 15mb and they lok ok. ALternately u could find one of those video posting sites on the internet and make the settings private. But yeah FTp is usually the best way and the most private. A client happy? Or patient? NEVER!!!

I use windows media encoder. The biggest plus is that it’s free from microsoft. I can usually get a :30 down to about 1.5 or 2 megs. Quality is subjective but none of my clients have ever mentioned poor quality…

We usually encode in Windows Media and place the file on our web server. That way I can code a quick HTML page with contact info and comments. I’ll place a link to the ASX file on the page. It’s fairly foolproof and I’ve had no negative comments.

I encoded using windows media and the file size was such that I could easily e-mail it. I brought down the quality a bit but it will be fine for an approval. I’m also looking into uploading on an FTP site.

If you don’t have FTP set up, you can go to:
yousendit.com
You can upload files up to 1GB in size. Then, an e-mail message goes to your client with the link to download it. It’s totally free and totally to use. That’s how I send out my stuff for approval (30 min. shows, WM9 files).
