    Hey COW,

Really confused at the moment, i have just constructed a composition in after effects and brought it into final cut. Now the problem is I cant playback full quality and on other computers with fcp I have been able to hold click on the ‘RT’ tab as shown below, however when I click it on my computer this is all i see….

    So my question is this.

Where do I go to enable Dynamic playback.

Im on a iMac 24inch 3.06Ghz 2gb RAM using final cut pro 6.0.5

If you don’t have an external raid, or some other hard drive unit fast enough to support Dynamic RT, I don’t believe it shows up. Notice that FCP does a check on your system for Dynamic RT support when it starts up.

Walter thanks for your fast response. I have fixed it by not matching the clip settings as the timeline. I think it wouldnt let me because of the animation codec i used from After Effects but not entirely sure, now i have the list of options on playback. I also moved it from the internal drive to my external lacie fw800 drive.

    thanks again!

The animation codec is not really an editing codec, so FCP generally does not support realtime playback of that format. The only time I ever use that codec from AE is when I’m creating graphic elements with alpha channels that need to be laid over video in FCP. Otherwise I simply render in the same codec I’m editing with.
