I’m ready to export my first Premiere project since upgrading to CS3. There are a lot of clips that are actually After Effects compositions that I’ve edited in using Dynamic Link.

My final delivery format is Mpeg 2.

In order to get a high quality export, do I need to go back and render all of the AE compositions out and replace the dynamically linked clips before I export from Premiere? I know Premiere WILL export without replacing the clips, but the sections of the spot that relied on dynamically linked clips looked like previews, jagged and aliased.

    Anyone have experience here?

Should I be posting this in the AE forum?

    Thanks. NB

You should be able to render those spots and have them look OK. I suggest that you export a small section of the sequence to MPEG2 and see for yourself.

    Seems to work.

    Wow.

What the hell am I going to do with all of the time I used to spend pre-rendering?

Be aware that pre-rendering only helps speed up an export when exporting DV AVI timelines to DV AVI exports. When exporting to MPEG, or anything else for that matter, a new render is required during export anyway.
