Dying Light Color Correction
Hello!
I’m editing a monologue scene that was shot during magic hour. There were three takes, each take, darker than the last as the sun went down. Furthermore, the cutaways were shot afterwards, so they’re even darker.
Which one of these shot should I color correct first, and then use that as the standard for the scene? I’m familiar with match color etc, I just don’t know if I should pick the darkest, the middle ground, or the lightest scene?
I’m running FCP 6.

I don’t think there’s a rule of thumb here to make a decision with. Rather, try working with each a bit to see where the common ground is. If you brighten things, you’ll interject some noise. I’d simply try matching them up using the darkest, then medium, then lightest to see how far you can push the b-roll until it’s unacceptable.
