February 17, 2013 at 6:20 amFYI…I was able to download your clip and add it to my Vegas Pro 12 build 486 timeline and add BCC 8.0 Snow effect to the clip and render out to an ipad template of 720p30 MainConcept mp4 file. I had already installed lagarith codec on my system.

February 17, 2013 at 6:24 amI have no idea why I am having such issues with this, everywhere I look, no one seems to be having THIS problem. For some reason I suspect something or other is corrupt, or maybe it’s some kind of hardware issue. I don’t know but it’s making me go crazy! lol
Thank you for trying to help me, at least!

February 17, 2013 at 7:57 amWell we ruled out a Sony Vegas issue, but it could still be a codec or video driver issue, since it occurs during play back. Codecs are registered with the Windows OS, so uninstalling does not always work. Sometimes tools like Codec Tweak can help show you where a problem is, but many people end up reinstalling Windows to get back to a known state. With Nvidia drivers, I usually run the latest version even if it is “beta”.
Some people have mentioned problems with their anti-virus software. If you are unwilling to turn it off, then try configuring it to ignore your video source and destination folders.

February 18, 2013 at 1:20 amHello, I “fixed” the issue. I decided it was about time for a fresh windows install (windows 8 64x) so I went ahead and formatted the drive, and installed windows. Installed all my drivers, installed dxtory, vegas, and lagarith (no other codecs or codec packs) and gave it a shot. I can now preview the video in the timeline without sudden crashes MOST OF THE TIME. It still does it! But far far less. I don’t know what is causing this behavior but I can at least use sony vegas now for the most part! Thanks for the help guys.
