DVX100 Footage slomo trick
hey guys (i notice no ladies here)
i started a thread earlier trying to find out how to convert my DVX100 psuedo 24 frame video
to 30 so i could slow it down and effect it without getting motion stutter, on an older editng system that does not handl 24I found a way, with some help from you all
here is how
1. the footage, we must assume, is not really 24 fps video, but 24fps at the camera, laid to tape at 30 fps or 60i. in my case, footage from a panasonic DVX100. (it could also be a film to tape transfer)
2. import clip you want to treat into AE. in my case i exported it as an AVI out of my NLE
3. interpret the footage AND guess the pulldown
4 now the clips is field interpreted AND is truly 24 fps
5 drop the clip into a 29.97 composition
6. apply time stretch, and make the value 80. this will speed the clip up to 30
7. export in a format your nle likes. now you have a clips that was shot at 24 truly running frame per frame at 30. when you bring it into the nle you can slo it down without getting judder.
its also more interactive as when you slow it down in your nle, you are kinda donehope this helps
