I’m struggling on a decision for how to shoot an upcoming community theater stage performance. It’s a multi-cam shoot, using 3x Panasonic DVX100A’s. I use Ultimate S to switch in Vegas during post. For the final deliverable, I’m looking for a “movie” type feel instead of a typical soap opera video look.

My question is, should I shoot the show using the DVX’s 24p capabilities, or in 60i and use Ultimate S’s 24p and film look options during post? I’m concerned about strobing. There is a lot of action/movement during the show, and 2 of the cameramen aren’t the most experienced operators.

Thanks in advance for any comments.

i think you will get strobing either way. try longer shutter speed.
