Yep, it’s called FCP.
Which one do you want to compare: different encoders different delivery codec’s (h.264/wmv/mpeg2/etc) with different compression settings or what camera can give out?
What if footage is printed on film or shown off the hdcam tape?

Once footage gets printed to film then you have thousands of variables.
Barry said they were going to do some film outs to 35MM. I am sure you will see articles in dozens of magazines. If you can afford an HDCAM deck then I would get the CineAlta instead of the HVX. I do not have a spare $100,000 sitting around. I do have a spare $10,000 and I will get the HVX and I will deliver on WMV-HD for real clients I have now. I shoot 10 days with the HVX and it’s paid for. Any more questions?

Yes but you still need to be able to edit in DVCPRO 100HD first.

Hey I have seen the price go to $3500 a day with equipment, so I don’t think that Mike is all that far off. Talent is not a commodity. So if a producer is paying that $3500 and the producer didn’t hire real talent, shame on the producer. But the guys I have seen go for this sort of change, are phenomenal.

all the pro camera persons i know have day rates !! their day rate doesn’t depend on the SIZE of the camera they use .. if you want to hire Mr/Ms X their day rate may be 2500- 25000 day ( without a camera) ..

they hire TALENT/experience/imagination not a camera .. the camera itself has no talent , no experience .. you could just turn it on and it might do fair to ok BUT is fair /ok good enough for your project ?

Well, you do have quite a limited cient base then.
Many of us will be using hvx to shoot for TeleVision.
Have you heard about brodcaster that accepts wmv-hd’s for masters?
You don’t need $100,000 to edit long program with FCP in 30 days and then rent hdcam deck for one day to print out the masters.

Yeah, but that’s not hard. I’ve seen it done on a two-year-old Mac Powerbook G4 1.33ghz, off the internal laptop drive.

We all knnow that….but WHY would one pay this sort of money and not get
proper gear WITH talent.
Nobody is discussing talent here.
