DVD’s I have burned will not play in Windows Media Player
Hi folks:
I love Sony DVD architect for a number of reasons but recently I have found a problem. I am not sure what happened as the DVD’s I used to create had no issue playing in windows media player on my Sony Vaio Computer. Recently I get this message.
Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because a compatible DVD decoder is not installed on your computer.
What on earth is this about? I have no idea now how to play my carefully crafted DVD’s on my own computer now!

Windows Media Player cannot play DVD’s by default. Microsoft does not play a license for the MPEG2 decoder needed to do this, so you must have some other software on your system that has the MPEG2 decoder and them WMP will use it. It might be possible that you uninstalled whatever software WMP was using to play DVD’s?

Thank you John. I am thinking that I added service pack 3 and with it a new windows media player with new restrictions that do not allow DVD’s to play like the former software I had been using. I have remedied the issue by downloading a media player called VLC which seems to be adequate at this point. Many thanks for the reply!
