Dvda3 – why to recompress a compliant video?
Hi there,
I’m just finishing a dvd, on which there are
multi angle parts.All of the videos are rendered to be compliant for dvd,
however dvda wants them to recompress.Is this normal for multi angle projects, or am I missing something?

When using multi-angles, ALWAYS give DVDA a DV-AVI file as it will ALWAYS render to MPEG2 no matter what you give it – compliant or not. I was told this was because of the multi-angles and i-frames having to be in the right place, etc…

I’m going to make some experiments
what happens if I make sure an I frame
in angle1 meets another I frame in angle2.
Of course IBPB groups are the same, since the
rendering template is the same.I’ll be back…

No matter what I do, if the second video channel
is present, DVDA wants to recompress the video.
Eve if the other channel is empty, or contains
exactly the same video.So, there’s no trick…

When I specifically noticed this and asked about it, I was told that it would ALWAYS render when you had multiple angles. From that point forward I started using, and recommending, DV-AVI files when creating multi-angle DVDs. I think that as soon as it see’s multi-angle it just automatically renders.
