I have the need to produce (on a regular basis) DVD’s with Spanish subtitles. My workflow is that I edit on FCP 4.5, export a QT animation codec file to Vegas for m2v/ac3 output, then author in DVDa using various graphic apps. I would like to have a 3rd party company produce the subtitles. It’s common for tiff files to be used with a pointer or navigator file which tells the dvd app where and how to place the subtitles (graphics are used rather than text to prevent font substitution and to keep the inflection of language). DVDA does not import graphics for subtitles (it only excepts text) and Sony is using a proprietary language in their *.sub file generated by DVDA. Even the timecode is reading frames in increments of 100 (00:01:02:99).

Any suggestions as to a work around? I would love to continue using vegas/dvda in this workflow. Have I reached the professional limit of this app?
