DVDA re – render
I rendered a 1 and a half hour movie (4 video tracks, 2 audio lots of effects) to MPEG2 from Vegas 6.0d. Took about 5 hours. No problem there. I’m trying to get away from TPMGEnc and decided to use architect 3.0c. Its now currently re – rendering the MPEG2 file, taking another 5 hours.Is this normal? TPMGEnc made this DVD from the MPEG2 file in under an hour. Presumably I’m also going to lose quality in the re – render.

With a video that long, you need to adjust the MPEG bit rate in Vegas using a bit rate calculator. By my calculations, you’d set it to a CBR of 6400 or a VBR of 8000, 6400 & 3800. This assumes you’re rendering the audio as AC3.

The number of FX will also slow the initial render down too.
However, if you choose the right render settings, DVDA will never have to re-render.
