Let me amend that I’m seeing the same problem on a Panasonic BD35 blu-ray player. This is also a TRIAL edition (but I don’t think that should matter)

You’re file looks completely fine to me- a lot of menus and files but fine.

If you have a minute (and a spare bluray disc you don’t mind using) give it another go, but this time without a menu and with only one video stream and one audio stream.

In Vegas go ahead and make your chapters there and save them in the file as metadata (when you choose render as it will give you a check box at the bottom that asks if you want to include markers). It doesn’t need to be but 5 to 10 minutes long and put as many markers as you want (up to 99) but they must be more than 1 second apart or else you are outside of the standard set up for bluray and dvd.

Once rendered, open it in an new dvd project (in DVDA go to File and choose New. Under New choose Single Movie and set your spec’s accordingly). Now make sure the markers are there on the timeline and then burn that to a bluray disc. Give it a try and see how that plays on the PS3.

Please report back here. If it does the same thing, if you are able to zip that project up (files and all) send it to me, I’ll burn it and give it a go on my ps3.

Thanks. I originally authored this by putting the video files directly into DVDA without going through Vegas.

I’m attempting, now, to set them up as one title with chapter markers in Vegas but am having trouble with the render (low memory, on a 3gb machine with just under 2gb free in System memory..ahh… bleeding edge of technology…)

I’d like to keep my AVCHD files (1920×1080 60i) near the same without having to transcode (or at least lose as little as possible during the transcode) and have been rendering to an AVCHD template with mpeg2 (m2ts) The one time I got it to render, the chapter markers came through but their timings were off. (I had also forgotten to set the “include audio” tag so back to the render again).

What’s a good interim format to go into DVDA for a blu-ray like that? (I also tried AVI per another, unrelated, suggestion on this forum and that turned into a 600gb+ file that was too big for my HD!)

If you are wanting to do bluray- try using the mpeg-2 template in Vegas and render out to any of them that are HDV or HD that most closely match your settings. If you want to keep your file as avchd, then I can’t really help you as I have yet to work with it (I have HDV cameras and find them easy enough to work with on the timeline).

If you stick with the mpeg-2 HDV templates or HD templates, DVDA should not ask you to reencode. It should be compliant. However, you will need to encode your audio separate- it will need to be AC3 to be compliant.

Again, just try a little 3-5 minute snippet and test with that so that way you don’t waste time rendering something that may or may not work- TEST FIRST!!!!! 🙂

Okay, did alot more testing.

Using Sony Vegas 9a, I converted my .mts clips into an MPG2 using the Mainstream codec, setting the chapter stops there. This spit out a .m2v which I put into DVDA and made an AVCHD blu-ray disc. This worked as expected although the video quality isn’t quite as sharp (obviously).

I tried converting to an AVCHD format but I constantly get low memory during the render and it aborts out.

It seems like the music/video compilation of DVDA 5.0b may be broken for blu-ray if I use AVCHD content in an AVCHD disc. (Broken meaning you can’t use next/prev buttons on the remote to navigate through the compilation. Previous always goes to the first video in the compilation and next never works.
