I have questions I hope someone can help me with it. I need to know what is the best setting for a DVD. I use liquid 7.2. I want the best video quality. It is going to be made in SD, so I was wondering if I cam add more then 480lines or what is better less compression and if so what is that setting. I need it to play on most all DVD players. I used the PD170 to shoot the video. I have a ATI x1900 video card, Is that good enough to get high quality DVDs? Thanks.

I don’t use Liquid, but I’ll try to answer your questions from the perspective of an Avid editor….

[DeWayne Kostrzewski] “is going to be made in SD, so I was wondering if I cam add more then 480lines”

SD (standard definition) is what it is. You can’t add lines of resolution. I suppose you could up rez your footage, but doing that to SD footage is, IMHO, is a waste of time.

Burning your project onto DVD-R media will ensure it plays on the majority of players. You will find the older the player, the more problems the client will have. When we first delivered on DVD, we bought an LCD DVD player – LCD meaning ‘lowest common denominator’. Also, if this is the beginning of a process for you, stick with the same media. I use Ritex 8X inkjet printable discs.

The video card only affects capture. It really has nothing to do with the final product.
