DVD Mpeg Render
I am having trouble rendering out a video file for burning a DVD. The Vegas project contains 107GB of media and is 1 hour 23 minutes long. It does render out but it has glitches in the final render which occur in the same location each time. Even if I render out a 2 minute piece of the overall video it still has the glitches in the same places.
The original footage does not contain any visible errors or glitches.
The original footage is from a Canon 60D and was transcoded to Avid DNxHD 10bit HD. It was edited down from 500 files and color corrected in Vegas. It was rendered down again to 6 DNxHD files. These six files were then joined in a new project and this is where I attempted to render them to DVD mpeg.I also render to an internet MP4 which also had glitches but they looked different and occured in different places through out the video.
My system spec is:
Dell XPS 8300
Intel i7-2600
16GB 1333MHZ DDR3 RAM
Sandisk Extreme SSD 240GB (Operating System)
Sandisk Extreme SSD 480GB (Current Project)
ATI Radeon 5670 1GB Graphics Card
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit
Seagate 1.5TB HDDAccording to windows experience index my graphics card is the weak link in the chain. I don,t really understand what they base there results on so it may not even be relevent.
I would post a sample but I am away from home for the next 2 weeks. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You didn’t say what version of Vegas you are using but if you are using any version that has GPU acceleration try turning the GPU acceleration off and see if the “glitches” go away. GPU acceleration has been know to be a bit glitchy. 😉

Sorry John I’m using Vegas Pro 11 and I don’t seem to have any options in the GPU acceleration drop down menu. I think my graphics card is pretty basic as it was the standard one that came with my Dell build.

OK, well if the glitch is in the same spot every time, can you identify anything on the timeline at that point that would cause the problem? Maybe a piece of media that is corrupt somehow? Try replacing it with something else (anything else just to see if the glitch goes away when the media changes)

Sounds like you’re doing everything right. Adding to John’s advice, there is also a GPU option in the render-as menu in the “modify template” window.
What does the glitch look like? Can you YouTube it so we can see the glitch? (Is YouTube a verb now?)

Render the “dodgy” piece to Lagarith; bring it back in and render away. That’s what I do.
