    Hey guys,
I’ve just finished cutting a short film in FCP, and want to output it to DVD using
    iDVD.

    1. As far as blank DVD media, does brand matter ? Can I use the cheap office depo brand,
or should I buy the sony ones?

    2. Will there be any difference in quality of the final output I burn the DVD in idvd vs. DVD studio pro?

There is no doubt about it, quality media makes a huge difference, but not in the quality of the video, it’s much bigger than that, it’s whether the DVD will play or not. Cheap DVD media media has errors that will cause your DVD discs to be rejected by a much larger number of players than good media.

Just do the math, a premium DVD costs about 35-cents on average. That’s $35 per hundred. A single reject can cost you a client. Is it worth saving a few pennies?

Just use Taiyo Yuden media. Nearly all of the good duplicators do. Their media has fewer errors than any other brand. You can order them from http://www.Meritline.com.

Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim are highly reliable. Taiyo Yuden tends to cost more because
its Taiyo Yuden in my opinion, Verbatim is just as good without the label cost.
