first time i’ve had to do this as ive always captured from an external source such as mini-dv but –

i need to work with ripping footage from a dvd – i just converted the vob files i needed into .mv2 files using MPEG streamclip and imported the files into fcp – no problems yet.

now when i’m there i have to render whenever a clip s put into the timeline – this can be annoying. im by no means a geek but i do understand my sequence and clip settings need to be the same, but matching those up doesn’t solve the problem.

is there anything i should be doing that ive missed? really rather not be rendering all the time.

If you’re using MPEGstreamclip, why not rip the dvd into the format of your timeline. Then you won’t have to render anything in FCP.

I use MPEG Streamclip all the time and I make sure that I match my rip settings with that of my timeline. If you are working in DV, then you should set MPEG Streamclip to give you DV 25 quicktime files. It will do this.
