im new to making and burning dvd’s. i have made a movie in affer effects so it will play on a HDTV. when the HDTV monitor is hooked directly to the computer, it plays great. crisp and clean. when burned to a dvd, and played on the monitor through a dvd player, it looks horrible. any idea how to prevent this? thanks!!!

That’s just a fact that SD DVD looks terrible when stretched by as much as a factor of 6. The theory is that adoption of HDTVs will drive the new HD formats – HD DVD and Blu-ray.

Don’t hook up a standard definition DVD player to your HD monitor because it doesn’t have a good upconvertor. I’d suggest getting a DVD player with upconversion circuitry you can find these at Best Buy.
