    Hello!
I am a Freelance animator and it is the only program that I use and I have all the wonderful people at creative cow to thank!!!!!
I had a question for anyone who would be soo kind as to answer…

You see, I have done some freelance animations for a client who intends to put them on Television and He wants me to make him a Dvd of the Quicktime file The cartoon was rendered in.

My question is this, What should the Composition settings be when I render a movie that is going to most likely be seen On Television?
    Ntsc, 648 x 486?
    Ntsc DV 720 x 480?

Any information you could provide would be greatly appreciated and would definately help me out of a Pickle!

    A million thank you’s!

    Hi Danny,
Sorry but it’s even more confusing than that!
A lot of broadcast work it 720×486 D1 resolution.
If you can’t find what resolution your client needs, then I would render out at 720×486, because it’s all the resolution they would need, then if they use a different setting they can crop out. Otherwise if you send them 640×480 and they need 720, then they are lossing resolution/quality because it’s too small.

FYI there’s no res at 648. It should be either 720×486 – 720×480 – or 640×480. It shouldn’t be the middle 720×480-it’s not a broadcast standard -sort of.

Although, if it’s a small file and/or a quick render. I would burn all 3 resolutions onto a disc.

    Cheers,
