DVD Architect Pro 5.2 stopped loading – total no-go
Just wondering if anyone has seen this problem or knows of a possible fix for it. I’ve been using Vegas Pro 64-bit 10.0e with DVD Architect Pro 5.2 (Build 132) on a Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit laptop system without any problems until recently. In the last couple of days however, DVD Architect won’t load at all. The little windows circle spins for about a second, and then nothing happens.
The only system or software change I made around the same time was uninstalling Lightroom 3 demo software, so I suspected that might have been a factor. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to find a direct link between them yet. Here’s what I’ve tried in a variety of combinations:
– uninstall / reinstall DVD Architect 5.2 (both Builds 124 and 132)
– uninstall / reinstall Vegas Pro 10.0e
– registry searches & deletions after uninstalls for DVD Architect 5.2
– registry searches & deletions for Lightroom 3 leftovers
– attempted opening DVD Architect by double-clicking a DVD template file (which is recognized when DVD Architect 5.2 is installed as registered to that program)
Any thoughts at all would be appreciated. At this point, my best option might be a clean installation of Windows 7, but I’d rather avoid that if possible. I can still burn DVD’s from the Vegas timeline just fine, but DVD Architect Pro is a total no-go.

I was going to suggest a system roll-back to an earlier date, but I am not sure if all the uninstalls/re-installs would have obliterated that. It is worth a try.
You might want to check if your firewall or antivirus program has accidentally isolated the DVD architect executable.

Good thoughts on the AV and firewall programs. I checked both (ESET Smart Security), and don’t see any issues there.

Have you tried to temporarily shut them both down to see if DVDA then fires up?

A quick update: I was able to get DVD Architect Pro 5.0b installed and working again, but 5.2 is still not starting at all for me. If I get any response from Sony, I’ll post it here.
