i don’t do dvd too often so i found this problem. actually it found me.
i have a dvd video. when i play it in vlc player it comes back to menu too early. about a second at the end is missing. when i play it with powerdvd it cuts off too, but not as much as vlc.

i understand that i need to render longer video, two more seconds of black screen at the end will not kill the bitrate, but i want to know why that occurs?

it probably has sth to do with gop structure, i am not an expert here. so maybe someone will tell me? what if i force i-frame just at the end of my video?
what if i force i-frame and put on it a chapter in dvdarchitect?

    thanx in advance
    p.

The first thing I’d check is the timeline in DVDA. Make sure at the end of your file you don’t have it cutting off. You’ll know by the shaded portion. Just drag it out to the end of your file if this is the case.

    Come on man!!! 🙂
I said I don’t do too much dvd but it doesn’t mean that I am completely new to this area. Anyway sometime we miss the most obvious, so thanks for the tip. I hope someone will say more on that. So far I added extra second and forced i-frame between the end of video and the region end. It helped as I hoped but I am still curious about explanation.

Occam’s Razor, man. Everyone’s at their own level, no one would know what level you are on, my friend. Good luck on your issue. Over and out.

Over and out are two different things, so it is over and out. :>/

“Over and out are two different things”

exactly! that is what i mean. those are two different things and that is the very reason you cannot have them both at the same time. “over and out” comes from movies that try to simulate military mood. in fact “over” and “out” come from military jargon. during a radio conversation soldiers say at the end of line either “over” which means “i am listening now for your response” or “out” which means “i go away, you can talk but i will not listen”.
so saying “over and out” means that you are performing two opposite things which are just impossible to perform simultaneously.
and i – a foreigner – feel a bit weird explaining that to a native english speaker which i assume by your surname you are.
anyway i thank you again for trying to help in my issue. i didn’t mean to make language classes here and yes that is true that i am a stubborn son of a b… thatloves to have a last word.

laugh at me, laugh with me and have a good day
    all the best

Why would you assume my name indicates native English speaking? Your name is as Anglo-American as they come, but I didn’t make any assumptions based on that. By nature of your original question, I attempted to offer assistance by first suggesting the easiest of solutions. I don’t come to this board often, but perceived at the time I saw your post, along with the previous post having nothing to do with Vegas but rather your perception of what format to avoid, that the simplest answer was likely what you needed. Apologies for my error.

I hope next time someone offers you assistance you don’t act like a d**k.

Over and out. (as in what my neighbor’s kids say for bye)

I assume that because your name sounds english, your surname sounds english, you don’t make grammar errors in your texts and there is a name just below your photo in your profile description saying “nashville ts”. I am pretty sure your native language is english.

the other post has so much to do with vegas as it concerns comparison of rendering times in sony vegas.

please i don’t really want to make enemies. i am a bit rough, simple, ironic person. that is why i am sometime a bit soar. i really am grateful for your efforts. thank you. i said before – don’t be so stiff, so serious. laugh at me and with me and be happy.
