I have just changed PCs. I am now running Vista with Vegas 8.0 and DVD Architect 4.5. I am now having issues burning DVDs in Architect. A part from taking ages compared to the last PC (30 mins for a 2GB movie at 16x), once the first dics is complete I am prompted to burn another copy. I insert a new disc and click YES, it then starts burning. The problrm is, the % complete does not move of 0%. In addition, the estimated time left increases with no sign of stopping (10 hours etc). I can cancel the burn but it takes a few mintes to stop. Burning has occured as some of the project data is on the disc but it does not play properly. Any ideas what is wrong and how I can fix this? I have tried re0installing with no sucess. The burner appears to be installed correctly too.

Does your DVD writer burner with other programs? Maybe it’s a problem with Vista (since that is what you just changed about your setup).

There is some issue with Architect, Vista and dvd drives.
I finally gave up and moved Architect to an pc running XP. Yes its a pain transferring multiple Gb but what can you do.

Thanks for the advice. I can burn DVDs between the DVD and the HD drives that are in the computer. It takes a long time but it is limited at 10x. This would indicate that the burners work.

In addition, the initial DVD that I generate from DVDA is fine. It is just when I try and create additional copies using the prepare project. It is definately an issue with the already prepared project but I can not pin-point what. I can create multiple copies but I need to click Make DVD each time and go through the whole process.

I may just have to crate masters and then copy them 3-4 times as it is Wedding Videos and usually I supply 3-4 copies of each disc.

You can also create an ISO image file and burn as many copies as you want with another program. (I use ImgBurn and it’s free). Or you can burn the VIDEO_TS folder with another burning program. I know it’s nice to do everything in DVD Architect but I’ve gotten into the habit of burning an ISO and then saving that. Any time someone needs a copy, I just burn one from the ISO file. I also have a DVD duplicator which accepts the ISO images so when I need to make 25 copies, I just feed the ISO to that.
