DVD Architect 3 – Picture Compilation Question
I made a picture compilation with about 300 photos to be added as a submenu on a DVD.
Is there a way to insert cross fades in Arch3?
If not, can I put the pics on a Vegas timeline and render it with the same parameters as the video going on the DVD? (I’d then just add it as separate movie.)
Wouldn’t this save lots of time in creating the DVD?
How can I get 1 sec cross fades automatically dropped between each still image? There must be a way to accomplish this without manually dragging each still photo event. I’ve scanned the manuals and don’t see a way.

You cannot create fades within a DVDA Picture Compilation, As you suggest, the best way is to create the file on the Vegas timeline.
In Preferences > Editing you can set both the default still image duration as well as check ‘automatically overlap multiple selected media when added’ along with the Cut-to-Overlap (transition duration).
When you add all the images, the duration and overlaps will all happen automatically.If your images are already on teh timeline, you can add overlaps with a script. Excalibur is especially good at this.

Thanks Gary. I now have my 300 pics on the time line. I’m making a wide screen DVD and I want to use the PanCrop/Match Output Aspect on all of them so I don’t get side bars. I can do this one at a time, but there must be a way to automate this process across all 300 events. Is there? And can you share how its done?

Absolutely. Personally, I use the Video Scrapbook tool in Excalibur which will not only “Match Aspect” but will also automatically add pans, zooms, and rotations to the images (including the areas not seen after doing the “Match Aspect”.

The script worked perfectly so thanks very much.
I initially didn’t notice the note abut renaming it with a capital M, and didn’t do that at first and it still seems fine. I then renamed it to Matchaspect.js.
Why is that necessary?
Also, what is ‘Excalibur’. I did a search and found lots of references to that term, but nothing that seemed to be relevant.
